![]() This wasn't a problem when I hosted the worlds back when we played 1.3, but back then I wasn't using an external network adapter so I'm having a difficult time determining if the problem is because of the update or because of my computer. I have been DC'd maybe 10 - 20 times since we started our 1.4 world. No other games or programs suffer from disconnects like Terraria does to my knowledge, which makes me think it might be the game and not my network adapter. I am using an external network adapter because the one that is built into my laptop doesn't work properly. ![]() My download speed is always between 30 mbps and 50 mbps. I have run multiple speedtests to see if my wifi is the issue. While I have been disconnected many times, Benji has not been disconnected even once, We always play through Steam, and it's me and my two brothers (the characters named "Benji" and "Danny " in the linked video). One time, I was fishing, and I opened a crate, and I got disconnected right after I right clicked and the crate disappeared, but right before the loot appeared in my inventory. This is super annoying and at times, frustrating because I have lost items due to this. Sometimes, I kinda see it coming ahead of time if I am trying to type in the chat, because my chat messages wont go through for a couple seconds before I get disconnected. I will randomly get booted out of my brother's world every 30 minutes and then I will get the "lost connection" message. They could possibly increase the priority that their device receives bandwidth from the router, but it'd be easier to find a better host.Lots of people seem to be getting a "lost connection" error when trying to connect to another player's world through Steam, but my problem is slightly different. If you lose connection after it has connected and begins to load, I am sorry but it is poor internet on the hosts end. If it sticks on "Connecting to." and never changes, it is an issue with the port forwarding. If it is automatically going to lost connection, it sounds like your firewall is blocking you. I've hosted many servers, it is usually one of these issues. Especially if you are doing a dedicated server. If you do not have a static ip address assigned to your device, and their are a lot of devices connecting to the router, you will want to make sure the port is open for a range of devices/ip addresses. Often its just admin/password), and add terraria udp/tcp port 7777~7777 for your device (or all devices). Navigate to your router (192.168.0.1 or whatever the address is) in a web browser, login using the factory credentials (you can typically google these based on the brand and model of the router. Whoever is hosting the server will also "join via ip" but they will type "localhost" when it asks for the ip instead of the public ip address Google told you.Ĥ. give that number to your friend, so they can join. You can go to Google and type "What's my IP?" into the search bar and it will tell you your computer's public ip. host using the server.exe in the game files folder, then have your friend join via ip. Make sure everyone does this so all the files are fresh and ready.ģ. Verify integrity of the game cache - this is an option when right clicking on terraria from your library. Always re enable firewalls after testing.Ģ. If you are unsure, try disabling the firewall and joining. check firewall exceptions list and add terraria. ![]() Lots of reasons why this may be happening:ġ. ![]()
